My first horse was an Appaloosa
mare given to me by my parents on
my 16th birthday. We bred her and
I fell in love with her foal, a black
filly that I named Kiamecia and
trained as a pleasure horse
myself. Many years later, having
moved from the big city to the
country outside Bastrop, Louisiana,
I bought my son a quarter horse —
then of course I had to have one of
my own so we could ride
together. My son is now a
university vocal music professor and
I am retired from Graphic
Packaging’s Texarkana coated
paperboard mill in Domino, Texas,
with my horses. I still have my
son’s quarter horse, 26 years old
now and going strong, but I wanted
to raise Morgans as they are very
special horses, and I would love to
raise one for you!
